What is TITP?
Foreign talent has been a priority for Japan’s government in order to reduce the country’s chronic labour shortage, which is expected to have much-reaching effects both short and long term. In Japan, businesses have found it challenging to find qualified personnel to complete specific projects due to a labour shortage. In order to solve this problem, Japanese officials have taken substantial steps to entice foreigners to work in Japan.

During Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to India in September 2017, both Prime Ministers emphasized how the synergy between advanced technology from Japan and India’s human capital will transform both countries into new centres of production in the global industrial network. They discussed how they might foster greater cooperation and exchanges in human resource development, using frameworks such as Japan’s Technical Intern Training Program (TITP).
Mr. Katsunobu Kato, Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan, and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of the Government of India, signed the Memorandum of Understanding in a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in Tokyo, Japan. It is expected that the TITP Memorandum of Understanding will significantly increase bilateral collaboration between India and Japan in skill development. According to the Technical Intern Training Act, which goes into effect in November 2017, India is the third country with whom Japan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Due to the excessively young population (50 percent of the overall population is under 25 years old), many people in India have difficulty finding employment. This project will directly benefit many young people from India since it will provide them with better career opportunities as well as an opportunity to develop their professional abilities. Studying Japanese culture and language, receiving technical training, and so on will enable them to find a better job with a Japanese company in India. This is because the Japanese market is rapidly expanding. Consequently, this decision could contribute to stabilizing and raising the living standards of hardworking people. The end results would be fantastic for both countries.
Aim of TITP
“The aim of the technical intern training programme is to provide young workers from India with the opportunity to acquire industrial and vocational skills as intern trainees in Japanese companies for 3-5 years, so that they can use these skills for economic and industrial development when they return to India.”
Which Institute helps students to Japan?

Japanese language and culture training
After selection of qualified applicants, they will be required to complete 3-4 months of language and culture instruction in Japan.
Following the completion of the program, the Japanese companies that will place the candidates will interview the candidates.
Following a successful interview, candidates must undergo a medical examination at any of the medical facilities recommended by the Genrise Global Staffing Private Limited. If a candidate fails the examination, another candidate will be substituted.
Visa Application Process
The Japanese diplomatic mission in India will request the candidate’s visa on behalf of Genrise Global Staffing Private Limited
Entry to Japan
As soon as the visa is received, candidates will be able to enter Japan.
- Japanese language and Technical Training
Following this, candidates will undergo a month or two of Japanese language and technical training under the supervision of the company where they are placed. Companies may have different training periods.
Technical Intern Training begins
After completing their training, the trainees/candidates will begin working in Japan. To decide whether a candidate can continue working in Japan, candidates must pass a ‘National Trade Skill Test.
Completion of TITP
After completing the TITP term, candidates would need to return to India where their abilities and expertise will be valued in the Indian job market.
The fee structure of the program
- The total fee for Japanese Language Training, Japanese Culture, Laws, Rules & Regulations, Day-to-Day Life Training, and Study Material is *15255/- + GST (18%).
- *16950/- plus GST (18%) is required for both registration and interview assessment. A registration fee must be paid before an interview is scheduled.
- A candidate must pay the amount of *33900/- + GST (18%) in addition to the administrative charges for preparation for an interview, mock interviews, employer facilitation, job matching, and placement at the time of selection.
- In order to successfully land in Japan, candidates will need other soft skills, including regular conversations and role-plays for team-building activities, which will cost them *173895/- + GST (18%). If the Japanese employer provides the Employee with Confirmation of Employment (COE), the payment should be made upon receiving it.

Additionally, if Japanese companies wish to expand their business operations in India, they can leverage skilled, experienced human resources trained in Japan. As in India, many Japanese enterprises have difficulty increasing their efficiency and developing their employees’ skills.
Most employees in Japan stay with the same firm and resist changing jobs since it is considered risky. This is not a healthy practice. As a result, most employees in Japan work for a long time and learn a wide range of skills they can offer to their organization for a long time. India, however, is a different story, and it’s usually difficult for you to find that kind of practice. Workers are likely to change jobs if they see better prospects and advancement, so they are willing to take risks. However, even if there are risks, if they find a new firm that offers better financial incentives or facilities, they will go that way.
In other words, Japanese firms in India experience a high rate of turnover among their employees. Bringing them up to speed and encouraging them to contribute to the company’s growth can be quite challenging. TITP could be of assistance in resolving these issues, but these behaviours wreak havoc on work efficiency and trust.
Participants in the TITP will have the opportunity to attend lectures on Japanese language, culture, and way of life, as well as to learn Japanese work culture, manners, and skills during their training in Japan. Upon completion of this program, they will return to India and will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills, and experience they have gained at a Japanese company in India, as well as share their knowledge with other local workers. In other words, the TITP is one of the most efficient methods to transfer skill, knowledge, expertise, and technology from Japan to India in order to ensure long-term business success.
